Charles Powell Obituary

Charles H. Powell was born November 3, 1941, to the union of Hester and Pauline Powell, in Lenapah, Oklahoma.

Charles graduated in 1964, from Lenapah High School, and enlisted into the Army on December 31, 1965. After the Army, he worked at Beach Air Craft in Wichita, Kansas. He then moved to Kansas City and worked art Petroleum as a supervisor. Charles then worked and retired from the Board of Public Utilities.

Charles was a faithful member of City Center Church, where he was involved in numerous organizations. To know Charles, you knew he liked to travel and explore eating places. He loved playing dominoes with his family, he loved cars and most of all he loved his family and was a jokester.

Charles, besides God, truly loved his daughter Delana “Shell”, as he would call her. They had a very special bond and love for one another. Yes, he would fuss, but he would always end with, “Well it will be alright, whatever the situation”. There was no greater love than what he had shared with her.

Charles is preceded in death by: one son. Miguiel Powell; his parents, Hester and Pauline Powell; sisters, Helen Renfroe, Ruby Tinsley, Frances Oliver, Patricia Johnson and Lula Davis; and one brother, Robert Powell.

Charles left behind to cherish his memories: daughter Delana Powell( James) of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Donald Powell and Kenneth Powell, both of Tulsa, OK, and James Powell( Rose) of Little Rock, AR; sisters, Doris Doyle of Manhattan, KS, Harriet Norman-Powell of Atlanta, GA, and Pamela Powell of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, DeVante Powell, Kimora Powell and Delaina Fletcher; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
