Joshua A Martin

Joshua Allante' Martin "Jay" was born October 17, 1990 in Chicago. Illinois to Allen A. Martin and Chante' S. Swift. His father and maternal grandparents preceded him in death. Joshua's family moved to Kansas City, Kansas when he was 3 years of age, where he was enrolled in the Kansas City, KS school district, graduating from Lansing High School. Joshua worked for various companies in the Kansas City Metro area but was ultimately lead to Waffle House as a Top Rated cook. Joshua loved to cook because he loved to eat. Recently Joshua started his own cleaning business, which was another passion of his. He took great pleasure in serving others, making them smile and ensuring they were well fed. 

Joshua met the love of his life Kanyce Jordan in High School. The two of them were inseparable: there were married July 7th, 2018. To this union one was child was born Neriah, who was truly the light of his life. Joshua cherished is time with Neriah, learning and growing with her. 

Joshua enjoyed family dinners, "Guys" trips, watching movies and making memories. Joshua never met a stranger. He was always there to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word and a smile. His zect for life and infectious laugh will be missed! 

Joshua leaves to cherish his wife Kanyce and daughter Neriah; Parents Keith and Chante' Dodds; brothers Ashton (Chicago) and Keith Jr. (Kansas City); sisters Collin, Kristian, Florina, Maya (Kansas City) and Makhya (Chicago). Great Grandmother Hazel Swift, Grandmother Jackie Martin, R. Ann Brown (John); Grandfather Wade "Bo" Dodds (Dorothy); Great Aunts: Debra Bowie, Denice Swift; Great Uncle: Eddie Swift III (Chicago); Aunts Tina Ezeji-Okoye (Vito) , Dana Martin, Savannah Parker (Allen), Terri Wilson, Gena Dodds-Thedford (Joey), and Maria Millentree (Marcus); Uncles: Alfred Martin, Mervin Moore Jr., Torrence Gunnells and Jeremy Brown. A host of Cousins and other relatives and friends.
