Lahoma Watson Obituary

Lahoma Jewel Watson was born on October 15th, 1923 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Sister Lahoma was the daughter of Jesse and Daisy Wilkes, the third child out of eight siblings, and the only girl.  As God would have it, she became the mother of all boys after marrying Brother Robert Watson, Sr. in 1952.  They were blessed to be married for 64 years.

Mom Watson's love of the Lord was...her...center!  That love was visible in everything she did.  She viewed being a true servant of the Lord as an honor that she took very seriously.  Mom Watson was a lifelong member of the Church of the Living God, PGOT, which was founded by her father, the Late Bishop Jesse J. Wilkes.  Mom was a bundle of postive energy who had boundless love to give to her huge family, and beyond.  Although she "only" birthed 6 children, the number of children whom she claimed as hers is too numerous to count.  She fed everyone spiritually and physically.  All were welcome at her table.

There was nothing better than hearing her laugh at the stories her boys would recount whenever they had the chance to all get together. Aside from her biological children, her other sons included Gary, Charles, Randy, Tim and a host of others (you know who you are).  Similarly, although she did not birth any daughters, she had numerous daughters that she called and treated as her own, which included all of her sons' wives, plus Kimberly, Susan, Trena, Marcella and many more.  Her grand kids love going to grammas' house because she always had plenty of toys and puzzles, or something interesting to do.  Mom Watson turned ordinary things like "going to the grocery store with gramma" int an adventure.  And the food!  Her mashed potatoes were legendary, and the love she put into her cooking made even her kool-aid taste extra special!

The way Mom Watson lived her life is an example of a live well lived!  She now joins her husband Robert and brothers Leonard, Percy, Ira and Harold in Heavenly Rest.

Family members left to cherish her memory are her remaining siblings: Bill Beard (Maggie),  Carl Wilkes (Wanda), and Jesse Wilkes (Mildred).  Her sons: Robert M. Watson, Jr. (Pamela), Ryan L. Watson (Felicia), Rodney K. Watson (Kathy). Regal J. Watson (Sandra), Randall A. Watson, Ron R. Watson (Sheranda), Gary Gardner...and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
