Cara Lee was born June 8, 1933, in Luther, OK. She was the youngest of two children. She was born to young parents, Emma Carrie Paige, and Arnett Johnson.
In 1939, at the age of 6, Cara Lee, her mother, and older brother, Calvin relocated to be near family in Manhattan, KS. After they moved, she attended Manhattan Douglas School and Manhattan Jr. High to complete her education.
In 1954, Cara welcomed her only child Delesa E. Rhodeman who would remain her joy and one of her primary purposes in life.
William Jones Jr. (Billy) would be the man to steal Cara Lee’s heart and would marry in the Fall of 1972.
Cara Lee enjoyed a fast-paced lifestyle early in her life. As time passed, she would be seen as a strong, vibrant, high-spirited God-loving person who loved and accepted everyone brought into her life. Cara found fulfillment in reading her Bible every day, playing bingo, watching game shows, sitting outside on the porch, and seeing family. Her quiet soul overflowed with kindness. Although she was a woman of few words, she expressed her love of God and family through journaling and poetry. Her smile will be missed, but it will forever be imprinted in our memories.
Cara Lee Jones, 88, resident of Shawnee, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, surrounded by love. Cara Lee is survived by her daughter Delesa E. Rhodeman, grandchildren, Marvin Rhodeman Jr. (Dawn), Andre’ Rhodeman, Demarla Rhodeman-Martinez (Eric), Delesa Carter (Woody), 19 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and loved by many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Para Lee Miller, mother Emma Carrie Paige, father, Arnett Johnson, brother Calvin Johnson, and husband William Jones Jr. (Billy).
