Carolyn Harvey Silas was born on January 2, 1947, to the union of William Arthur and Selma Doris Harvey in Enfield, North Carolina. Both of Carolyn's parents and her only child, Darren Lynch preceded her in death.
Carolyn's life was the answer to "What's Love Got to do With It"
A Woman of God: She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Willie Battle, in Newport News, Virginia. After moving to Kansas City, Sister Carolyn became a member of Faith Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO, Dr. Stanley Counts.
In 1993 Carolyn joined Timothy Baptist Church where her ministry of discipling those who were bound by alcohol and drug addictions birthed workers, pastors, deacons, and evangelist.
Sister Carolyn was ordained Pastor Carolyn, March 2002 by Paid In Full Ministries and licensed in 2003 by Kingsway Way Fellowship International. Her pursuit to serve God led her to become a graduate of Western Bible College.
The Wife: On August 30th, 2003, Carolyn married the love of her life, Willie Silas, who affectionately called her, "C NOTE." They were joined in holy matrimony at Timothy Baptist Church by Rev. Louis Sipple. Carolyn also gained another son, Eric James, in this union.
The Ministry: Together, she and her husband began Walking 12 Steps with Christ, the first women's recovery center in Wyandotte County. Under the ministry, women and their families were served. Children whose parents were incarcerated received toys at Christmas and married couples benefited from the wisdom of her and her husband. Carolyn was a mentor to others who served the same population. She supported other women who God had given the same vision to support women in need of housing and supports after incarceration. She also served as Chaplain of the Wyandotte County jail for 25 years.
The Mother: Carolyn's love for all of her grandchildren gave her joy; her home was their home. She was a present and active grandmother in their lives. The passing of her son, Darren, and his wife, Jamie Lynch, graced her and her husband with 4 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
The Family: There are no words or comparison of deed of the love that Pastor Carolyn extended to her family of that her family extended to her. She was proud of them and they are equally proud of her.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her impressionable memories: Her Husband of 35 beautiful years, Willie C. Silas; her sisters, Doris Smalls, Mattie Banks (Stanley), Wilhelmina Hill (Robert), Brenda Williams; her brothers, James Harvey (Gussie), William Harvey (Julia); one son, Eric James; four (4) grandchildren; eight (8) great-grandchildren, and a ninth on the way.
