Carroll Ann Rucker, the only child born to William and Doris (Carroll) Rucker, in Kansas City, Missouri on March 5th, 1947.
Carroll was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents, Joseph and Alma Campbell, and paternal grandparents, Robert and Emma Rucker.
Carroll was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas School district, graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1965. After graduation, she attended college at the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence, Kansas, graduating in 1969 with a degree in Elementary Education.
At an early age, Carroll was baptized at the Eighth Street Baptist Church by Rev. I.H. Henderson, Sr. While a member there, she participated in many activities. Later, she united with Trinity AME Church, and was a member of the choir until her health began to fail.
Carroll was previously married; however the marriage was later dissolved.
Carroll taught school in Vallejo, California, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. She also taught in the Adult Basic Education Program in the Kansas City, Missouri, and Center School District. She had to give up the later position to be the care giver for her maternal grandmother.
Carroll was an outgoing person, always the life of the party. She enjoyed dancing, music, and playing cards. She always kept up with everyone's birthdays and their astrological sign.
Carroll departed this life on Thursday, October 5th, 2023, at the The Hill Top of Blue River Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Carroll leaves to cherish her memory, her close friend and care giver, Vivian Cardwell, her first cousins, Connie Rasberry, of Dacula, Georgia, Jamesetta Lenoir of Raytown, Missouri, Donna Harrell of Kansas City, Missouri, and Robert Locke of Raytown, Missouri. Long time friends, Annette Jackson-Taylor, Phyllis Henderson, Patricia Misher, and JoAnn Gober and a host of many other relatives and friends.
