Debra Knowles Obituary

Mrs. Debra J. Knowles departed her Earthly Home for her Heavenly Home on March 21, 2023 while at Shawnee Mission Medical Ctr. surrounded by her beloved family.

Debra was born on October 6, 1951 in Kansas City, Ks. to the late Mrs. Louise Cobbins (Otha B. Cobbins) & Mr. Joseph Wilbert Henagan. She was the eldest sibling. She was educated in the Kansas City, Ks./ District 500 Public Schools.

Debra worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. Joseph Nursing Home until her health began to decline.

Debra dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and she was baptized at Metropolitan Temple in Kansas City, Ks. She loved God and was a true believer of The Lord, Jesus Christ. Debbie rededicated her life at Forest Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Desmond C. Lamb Sr.

Debra met Mr. Victor Knowles and the couple was united in holy matrimony in 1989.

Debra was affectionately known as "Debbie" to all her family and friends. She loved to cook, a lover of good food, shopping for her family brought her great joy, she also loved spending quality time with her family and friends. Her smile would light up any room that she entered. Debbie never met a stranger; to know her was to love her. She had the most loving, caring, and giving spirit. She also loved to watch her gospel videos and attend church whenever she could until her health began to decline.

Preceding her in death were her parents: Mother- Mrs. Louise Cobbins, Stepfather Otha B. Cobbins; Father- Joseph Wilbert Henagan; Grandparents; (maternal) Mr. Remble Brown, Mrs. Leola Miller, (paternal) Mr. Joseph & Nobie Henagan; two sons; John N. Jackson III, Donta R. Brown; one daughter; Tyauna M Bradley; four brothers: Mr. Errol A. Cobbins Sr., Mr. Joseph Dixon, Mr. Leland Dixon, Mr. Wilbert Henagan; and one grandson; Donta' L. Gadison.

Debbie leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, her three daughters; Mrs. Lietria Brown (Jennifer D.) of Overland Park Ks., Ms. Ayyina L. Bradley of Kansas City, Ks., Carmella A. Manning of Kansas City, Mo.- six brothers; Mr. Dana Brown (Sandra) of Kansas City, Ks., Mr. Daryl Brown (Lisa) of Kansas City, Ks., Mr. Charles Edwards of Kansas City, Ks., Mr. Brian Cobbins (Bridgette) of Kansas City, Ks., Mr. Bruce Cobbins (Misha) of Piper Ks., Mr. Lyron Cobbins Sr. (Olivia) of Olathe Ks., -seven sisters; Ms. Darla Norwood of Kansas City, Ks., Mrs. Teresa West (Willie) of Kansas City, Ks., Ms. Antoinette Collier of Kansas City, Ks., Mrs. Carolyn Thomas (Melvin) of Kansas City, Ks., Ms. Kimberly Henagan of Kansas City, Mo., Ms. Ceola Henagan of Arkansas- one favorite uncle; Mr. Walter Miller Sr. of Kansas City, Mo.; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

*She also leaves us with a cherished memory of her favorite saying, "GIRL, WHAT YOU COOK?"
