Mrs. Lacerine (Lacy) Hunter Riley was born to Jettie Hunter and Odie Mae Walker on March 3rd, 1934 in Sparkman, Arkansas.
At an early age she and her mother moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Lacerine and her mother began attending services at the Eight Street Baptist Church.
On March 7th, 1946, at the age of 12, Lacerine joined the Eight Street Baptist family making JESUS CHRIST her personal LORD & SAVIOR, being baptized by Pastor Dr. I. H. Henderson and being a devoted servant of the LORD there for over 70 years and was in attendance until her health began to decline.
Lacerine passionately worked with the youth, taught Sunday School and sang in the Young Couples & Ladies Choir, Gospel and Imperial Choir, and Missions & BTU Department. She faithfully attended the Nurturing Class and Bible Study.
She was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District, attending Douglas Elementary, Northeast Junior High, and graduating from Sumner High School in 1953. She went on to further her education by attending the Kansas City Kansas Junior College.
On September 29th, 1957, Lacerine was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. Kenneth Brooks Riley Jr., committed to their union for 44 years until his passing. To this union 2 children were born, Kenneth Brooks III and Rita Jean.
She served as a CNA at the Douglas Hospital, and as a card sorter for Hallmark for 18 years.
Lacerine was always a passionate loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother to her children extended family and her friends.
Her parents, husband, and son preceded her in death.
She departed this life Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the family home where she resided for over 50 years.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter Rita Jean, Daughter-in-love Karen Denise, five grandchildren Bishop Dr. Mike Reeves, Sr. (Pastor Ceslie), Ian and Ehren Smith, Keenan (Taneshia) and Keaton Riley, ten great-grandchildren Mika, Mike Jr., Damian, Ariana, Tiana, Jullian, Camden, Kyler, Tessa and Torryn, on great-great granddaughter Me'lani, one aunt Cora Tolfree, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and many friends.
