On Monday, November 6th, 2023, Michael left this earth, but not our hearts.
He was born December 2nd, 1955, in Hardin, Kentucky to William Word Sr. and Effie Word.
He graduated from Sumner High School, Kanas City, Kansas in 1974.
As a young man he had a beautiful daughter named Dominique (Lula).
In 1988 he married Madelyn, to this union 2 children were born (Endia and Michael, Jr.).
In 2001 he married Vanetta "what a pair" and gained 2 daughters (Aida and Lauren) they remained close friends until his passing.
Michael embraced his love for God at an early age. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church where he served as a greeter and a usher.
He loved sharing with others about his relationship with God. Every chance he got he would take his family to church with him. His motto was "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord".
Michael could be seen in worship weekly and always looked forward to attending and serving at the men's prayer breakfast.
Michael started cooking and landed his first job at the age of 14, later becoming a chef. He was a chef at Plaza III, Hereford House, and Ruth Chris. He retired in 2022 but that didn't last long.
He went back to work and enjoyed cooking at Delaware Highlands where he could have lunch with his mother.
Michael loved being with his family. He loved fixing breakfast for his family, especially the grands. That first meal was his favorite.
He loved to travel and fish, when he could. He loved to sit back and relax and watch his favorite teams the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mizzou Tigers.
