Peter Maitwe Obituary

Peter M. Maitwe was called to be with the Lord on October 30, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Peter was born on March 27th, 1970 in Nairobi, Kenya to Patrick James Maitwe and Janet Nagudi.  He is preceded in death by his mothers; his three brothers, Moses Maitwe, Allan Maitwe and Percy Maitwe; and sister, Patience Maitwe.

Peter is survived by: his wife, their two sons, Alexander Maitwe (age 14) and Edwin Maitwe (age 11); his two brothers, Arthur Maitwe and Patrick Maitwe, Jr.; and his sister, Hope Maitwe.

Peter's family lived in various countries, partly due to his father's professional work.  His lower and middle school education was based in these various countries.  On February 4th, 1990, the family moved to Canada, where Peter finished high school and his university education.  He graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1998.  In 2000, Peter met his loving wife, Eva-Liisa Sheehama Maitwe, whom he married in 2002.

In November 2005, Peter moved to Wichita, Kansas, to work for CNH Industrial, where he remained until his death.  His wife and newborn son joined him a few months later in January 2006.  They found themselves among a wonderful, loving, and welcoming community of Wichita and decided to make this city their home.  Peter was a very cool, kind, loving, and smart person with a great sense of humor.  He can be quiet at times, but loud in his quietness.  Laughter was ensured whenever he was present.  His beautiful smile and infectious laugh will always be treasured by his family forever.

Peter Maitwe was a man to be admired.  His life will be celebrated by his co-workers, he worked at Case New Holland for nearly fourteen years as a manufacturing engineer.  His life will be celebrated by all the people he watched over, helped and cared for.  Peter never stopped helping those that needed help, lifting spirits of those around him with his infectious laugh.  Most importantly, his life will be celebrated because of his love for his wife, Eva-Liisa, his oldest son Alexander and youngest son Edwin.

May the winds of love blow softly and whisper so you'll hear- We will always love and miss you and wish that you were here.
