Rex Eugene Gehringer, Jr.

Rex Gehringer, Jr. passed away March 4th, 2023, in his home in Independence, MO. Rex was born to Rex Eugene Gehringer, Sr. and Mary Ellen on January 13th, 1957 in Jackson County, Michigan. He grew up the middle child between two sisters, Marcia and Ellen Gehringer. Rex Gehringer Jr. took great pleasure in serving our wonderful country in the Army, which he did from 1975 to 1985. During his 10 years of service he moved up in rank multiple times and we deployed to Germany, Korea, Washington, Missouri, and Kansas. He received three Good Conduct Ribbons, an Army Achievement Medal, as well as a Leadership School Ribbon. After being honorably discharged from the military in 1985, Rex took work in the plumbing field. From there Rex started his 30 year career at Lowe's in Illinois. Transferring to Salina, KS to be closer to his children. Retiring in Independence, MO where he resided. Rex Gehringer Jr. has three children: Charlene (Gehringer) Keefer, Richard, Maria (Gehringer) Johnson, Curtis, Robert Gehringer (Gerleman) and six grandchildren, Zachary, Donovan, Timothy Johnson, Justin Keefer, Aaron and Zaiden Gerleman; one living sister, Marcia Gehringer; brother-in-law, Larry King. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Mary Ellen Gehringer Sr. and one sister, Ellen Gehringer (King).
