Ruby Lee (Neal) Watson-Evans passed away on May 28th, 2023 at Advent Hospital in Merriam, KS. Ruby was born June 24th, 1943 in Frederick, Oklahoma to A.D. Neal and Lenora Lawrence. She grew up in Ardmore, OK and graduated at Dunbar High School. She attended Langston University in Langston, OK, where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She maintained lifelong friendships with friends from Dunbar and Langston. Her family moved to Kansas City where she married Mr. Clyde Watson, received her Associates degree in Nursing from the AVTS and worked in several hospitals around the metro. After raising four children, she married Lonnie Evans. Ruby retired after 20 years with Veterans Admin Hospital in KCMO. After retirement she stayed busy working for Board Elections, playing BINGO, going to the casinos and cheering on her favorite team the KC Chiefs. Her favorite pastimes were traveling to Dunbar High School reunions and annual trips to attend the tennis matches in Palm Springs, CA with her favorite cousin Burnetta Pritchett (Christopher).
Ruby was preceded in death by her HUSBAND, Lonnie W. Evans; PARENTS, A.D. Neal and Lenora Lawrence; SISTERS, Verlinda Kenney and Queen Lawrence; DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, Ginger Craig-Watson; and GRANDSON, Brian K. Jones.
Ruby leaves SONS, Clyde Watson of LaCygne, KS, Carlos Watson (Marie) of Leavenworth, KS; DAUGHTERS, Lisa Watson and Robin Watson of Bonner Springs, KS; SIBLINGS, Ilesa Braswell of Killeen, TX, Eugene Kenney of Kansas City, KS, and Anthony Kenney of Kansas City, KS, to mourn her loss.
Ruby's pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved attending their concerts, sporting events, graduations, and in recent years, their weddings. She leaves behind 7 grand-sons, 7 grand-daughters, and 16 great-grandchildren.
