Vanessa Roebuck Hope or "Nessa" sixty years of age of Manhattan, Kansas departed this life on September 26, 2019 to be with the Lord. She was born March 3, 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was baptized at a young age at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, she loved the love and was always an active member.
She graduated from Withrow High School with the class of 1977. She also attended college and received an Associate Degree from Quarter Tech Community College. She was employed with Proctor & Gamble as a Secretary until she was united in marriage to Army Sergeant First Class, Blane R. Hope of Cincinnati, Ohio on the 4th of August 1990, by Rev. James Milton, Pastor of Southern Baptist Church. Shortly afterward, Blane was deployed to Iraq in Operation Desert Storm.
Vanessa was a very outgoing, friendly and beautiful lady. She always had such a beautiful smile and personality to match and dedicated her life to be a steward of the Lord.
Vanesa worked at the Manhattan High School for over two decades as a Secretary and her last position was the Principal Secretary. She also worked for Susan B. Anthony Middle School for one year and the Kansas State Foundation for a short period. She was also a member of Pilgram Baptist Church for over twenty years. She was on the Juneteenth committee for several years and served as a meals on wheels driver.
Vanessa Hope is preceded in death by her parents, James and Frannie Roebuck; her sister, Gertrude Roebuck and her nephew, Aundoylo Jones.
She is survived by: her husband of twenty-nine years ~ Blane R. Hope; Son ~ James J. Hope (26); stepdaughter ~ Danielle A. Hope (29) of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters ~ Mica Sanders and Michelle Roebuck; nephew ~ Justin Sanders; along with a host of relatives, co-workers and friends.
